The Ang WeddingJessie and T. K. came half way around the world to get married in Asheville and I was privileged to be asked to photograph the event. Both T. K. and Jessie are natives of Singapore but had spent time in the U.S. where T. K. had gotten to know a family in Asheville. T. K. "popped the question", Jessie said yes and plane tickets were purchased for Asheville. The wedding was supposed to take place in a pretty little wooded area with a small pond as a backdrop, however the weather did not cooperate and the ceremony took place indoors at the family home.
This was a rush job since Jessie and T. K. were headed back to Singapore a week from the wedding. A nice hard-cover book was produced along with a video and delivered the evening before they boarded the plane back. They loved the book and video and I took Friday off.
Best wishes Jessie and T. K.!

New Gallery FormatI am trying a new gallery style for Gallery Two. Previously I was using the Adobe Lightroom web page generator and uploading the output. I have switched to a javascript-based solution.
I am undecided about which is best. I'll let it "cool" for a couple of days and see how I feel about it then. Just like everything now-days, they both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Humorous But TrueI am a fan of the web site the Luminous Landscape and I came across this bit of humor on one of it's forums:
Q:What is the difference between an artist and a pizza?
A: A pizza can feed a family of four!
A fact for all but the very few.
So support your local artist!

New Images in the Caelum Infinitum Gallery
A collection of images or a portfolio often changes over time. New images are created and added or replace weaker ones. The portfolio should reflect the deeper exploration of the underlying theme or perhaps even the steps in the artists understanding of the medium.
I have added some new images to the Caelum Infinitum gallery. Enjoy.

New Fine Art Images Added to Gallery One at BruceDenton.comI have added three new images to the Fine Art Gallery One on my web site, BruceDenton.com. The first is a late evening vista from the base of Mount Pisgah in the Pisgah National Forest. The image is a juxtaposition of the hard permanence of the mountain and the shifting softness of the evening mist.
The second and third are two cloud-scapes taken (conveniently enough) from my front yard. Asheville earned the distinction of being know as the "land of the sky" and decades after that designation, it continues to live up to it's reputation.
Merry Christmas,
Bruce

A Decade of Wonder
"The landmark 10th anniversary of the Hubble Space Telescope's Hubble Heritage Project is being celebrated with a "landscape" image from the cosmos. Cutting across a nearby star-forming region are the "hills and valleys" of gas and dust displayed in intricate detail. Set amid a backdrop of soft, glowing blue light are wispy tendrils of gas as well as dark trunks of dust that are light-years in height."
Well worth a contemplative look.

Preserving Those Precious Memories #1 - Hanging OnWhen hanging your photographic art (or any other art for that matter) there are some steps you need to follow that will ensure the pieces will not be damaged
1.Never hang your art in a spot that will catch sunlight. There is nothing that will cause any hanging art to fade faster than direct sunlight. Even brief exposure will cause the image to fade.
2.Always use a mat. The purpose of a mat is to keep the surface of the piece from coming into contact with the glass in the frame. If you aren't using glass or some other type of covering, well, never mind.
3.Keep the work under glass. Or Plexiglass or Acrylic. Be sure the glass or other material is UV resistant. It is the UV (ultra violet) radiation that cause fading from the sun or other sources. Keeping your piece under UV resistant glass will prolong its life.
4.Use acid-free materials for matting and backing. Acid in the board used to mount or mat your artwork can damage the piece causing fading, discoloration, spotting and other problems.
Long live your art!

A Day at Cataloochie
The Cataloochie area of the Great Smokey Mountains National Park in western North Carolina contains the remnants of a community of over one thousand people. When the Park Service bought the land most of the homes and other structures were burned with a few left standing. A church (above), school house, and a hand-full of homes and barns are representative of the life and times of Cataloochie.
Cataloochie is an isolated area of the Park and as a result is quiet and serene with great opportunities for artistic exploration.
